Max's Dragon Shirt is the 19th episode of the second season of Max and Ruby. It is based off of the book of the same name.
Plot[]
Max loves his old blue pants more than anything but Ruby says "That is disgusting, Max". So they go the store to buy new overalls for Max. But Max wants a dragon shirt. Ruby says "We only have 5 dollars to buy overalls. After that, there'll be no money left". When Ruby tries on dresses after finding one that matches her purse perfectly, it lets Max get lost so he can find a dragon shirt. He finds one and wears it. Ruby asks Max what he has on and Max says "Dragon Shirt". Ruby says “No Max. We are not here to buy a dragon shirt. We came to buy overalls. And when we buy the overalls we will have no money left". Max gets a free sample of chocolate ice cream. When Ruby finds the hanger the dragon shirt came from, she is ready to put it back on, but sees that Max has dribbled ice cream all over the dragon shirt. Therefore, Ruby's forced to buy it and thus they do not have any money left for overalls
Differences between the book and the episode[]
- In the book, Ruby is wearing a yellow dress and Max is only wearing blue overalls. In the episode, Ruby wears a purple and yellow dress and Max wears a red stripped shirt and overalls.
- Ruby doesn't go looking for Max like she did in the book and the teenager and saleslady isn't seen.
- In the book, Max is eating ice cream with two policemen and the teenager. In the episode, he gets a free sample of chocolate ice cream.

- At the end of this episode, Max says "No money left". Another episode where Max speaks a full sentence.
- This is one of the rare episodes where Max says Ruby's name.

- In the Polish dub, Ruby's line "I can't believe my luck" isn't dubbed.
